Raven Crest ML1 Selena (First Generation)DOB: February 9, 2003MDGA XL00561 (Pictured June 6, 2004, 4 weeks into her first freshening) Selena was my very first Mini-Lamancha to freshen, and all I could say was "WOW!!!" Her udder had a perfect globe shape, good capacity, teats with good size and placement, and wonderful attachments all around. Then there was the beautifully supple texture of her udder and the incredible ease of milking this doe. Selena is an uphill doe with a strong, smoothly blended topline and long level hip. She has tons of depth and body capacity, enabling her to produce over seven pounds a day of delicious, rich milk in her third freshening with no loss of condition. As a bonus, she's a sweetheart on the milk stand. I am completely sold on Mini Manchas! You can click on either picture for a larger version. (Selena's udder is mostly empty in this full body shot.) |

Glimmercroft Shine (Second Generation)DOB: February 7, 2005MDGA XL00757 (Pictured July 17, 2006, about 6 weeks into her first freshening) Shine is a lovely second-generation, gopher-eared daughter of Sally and Valentino. Even though she isn't set up in these photos, you can see that Shine is very nicely put together, with a refined neck blending into sharp shoulders, a strong topline, strong feet and legs, and then there's that high, arching escutcheon area and tremendous width! Shine is Valentino's first daughter to freshen, and I am well pleased with her udder. Just see for yourself! You can click on either picture for a larger version. What you can't see is that Shine also has very good production, peaking at over seven pounds in her first freshening, and she's wonderful on the milkstand. The quintessential dairy goat! Glimmercroft Raia (Second Generation)DOB: April 29, 2008MDGA XL01132 (Pictured September 12, 2009) Raia is a small doe with a long, capacious body, excellent width in the rear, strong feet and legs, and a strong topline with a long, level hip. In Raia, I attempted to bring together Sally's amazing capacity and generous teat size with Selena's wonderful foreudder. So far so good, even though she freshened with just a single kid. I'm looking forward to seeing what she'll do in her second freshening, hopefully with a multiple birth!

Glimmercroft Rose (Third Generation)DOB: January 27, 2009MDGA AML01345 (American) (Pictured at 10 weeks) When Shine had quadruplet doelings in 2009, I was thrilled. When the kids began to mature, I was even more thrilled. This was a beautiful litter, and though it was a difficult choice, Rose is my pick. From her conformation to her lineage to her temperament, I can't think of a single thing I would like to change about her. I am very excited to see what kind of udder she'll put into that lovely escutcheon. Rose has been bred to a gorgeous third-generation buckling from excellent milking lines, standing at Sweetbrier Ridge. FOURTH GENERATION kids are due in early July.
